It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Viona GLORIA Doreen Fraser. Gloria passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, October 22, 2023 with her husband Hughie by her side.
Born in Collingwood, Gloria was a daughter of the late Milford and Viona (Hyndman) Hudson.
Gloria excelled in school and graduated two years early from Oxford Regional High School. Gloria married Hughie in 1962. After living for several years in Halifax where she worked as a secretary, they purchased and settled on their farm in Hartford. Gloria chose to become a full-time Homemaker.
For many years, they supervised a crew of fifty people while harvesting blueberries, and later worked as partners in their sawmill. Gloria was a savvy saleswoman who sold Tupperware for many years - becoming one of the top salespeople in the Maritimes. She enjoyed and was exceptionally good at knitting - participating in local craft shows where her work was in high demand.
Gloria had accepted Christ as her Saviour, and for many years faithfully attended the Gospel Hall in Oxford.
Gloria was the loving wife of Hugh Fraser, mother to son Rick (Beth) of Cranbrook, BC, and daughter Catharine (Tom) Mairo of Belchertown, MA, and proud Nanny to grandsons Justin and Joel Haver.
She is also survived by brothers Aubrey (Glenys), and Arnold of Sechelt, BC, and sister Elizabeth (Dave) Jensen of Ottawa.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was predeceased by brothers Harold and Carl, and Albert in infancy.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of W. Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford, NS (902-447-2167). A private family burial will be held at a later date in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
Those wishing to make a donation in Gloria's memory may do so to the Oxford Fire Department, or the charity of your choice.
