It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of
Emerson Leon Austin,
age 73 of Collingwood, NS. Emerson passed away unexpectedly
on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care
Centre.
Born in Williamsdale, NS, he was a son of the late Oscar and
Hazel (Taylor) Austin.
Emerson was a member of the Collingwood United
Church. He was a mechanic by trade working in the forestry
industry most of his life. He was a passionate gardener who
took a great deal of pride in his lawns. He loved his
family, and especially his little dog Zoe.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, the former Lavona
MacDonald, Collingwod; daughter Cindy (Bill O'Neill) Austin, Port
Howe; grandson Ryan Austin, Springhill; several nieces and nephews.
The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was
predeceased by his sisters Claudena Coates, Juanita Bickle, Sara
Fletcher and Beryl Alderson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the W Allen Funeral Home,
60 Water St, Oxford, NS (902-447-2167). Visiting hours will
take place Saturday, May 26, 2012 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at the
Collingwood United Church, followed immediately at 2:00 pm by the
funeral service, officiated by Rev. Dan Gunn. The burial
will take place in the Wyvern Cemetery. All will then be
invited back to the Collingwood United Church for a time of tea and
fellowship.

so to the Collingwood United Church, the Heart and Stroke Foundation
or the Cancer Society.
