Douglas Roy Slack, age 88, of Oxford, passed away peacefully
at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Sunday, January 15,
2012.
Born in Amherst in 1923, he was the son
of the late Charles and Clara (Vinson) Slack.
Douglas retired from Northern Telecom in Amherst. He
was a member of the Widow's Son Masonic Lodge #48 in River Philip, a
lay reader in the Anglican Church for many years as well as a director
of Pine Grove Cemetery. Douglas sponsored a family in Sri
Lanka through the Salvation Army.
Douglas is
survived by his wife Cicely (Rogers) Slack as well as several
nieces. He was predeceased by his parents as well as a
sister Doris (Jan) Feller, as well as a brother in infancy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the W Allen
Funeral Home 60 Water St., Oxford, NS (902-447-2167). There
is no visitation by request of the family. A funeral service
will be held at All Soul's Anglican Church, Oxford on Thursday,
January 19, 2012 at 11 am, Rev. William Cook officiating.
Burial will take place in the Pine Grove Cemetery in the spring.
