It is with deep sadness we announce the
passing of Myrna Eleanor Murray, age 83,
of Oxford. Myrna passed away at the Cumberland Regional
Health Care Centre on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
Born in Springhill, NS, she was a
daughter of the late Hazen and Mildred (MacKay) Dixon.
Myrna was an active member of the Oxford
Seniors Club for many years where she organized card games and social
events. The St. James Presbyterian Church was a large part
of her life, being a choir member, a member of the St. James Session
and the Board of Church Managers. She was active for many
years with the Ladies Circle and treasurer of the Atlantic Missions
Society. She was a graduate of the Nova Scotia Teachers
College and taught at the Oxford School. Years later, she
taught at the Oxford Pre-School. She was well known as the Avon Lady,
selling for over a quarter of a century.
She will be dearly missed by her son
Stephen Murray, Oxford, and her daughter Cheryl (Michael) Hebb,
Dartmouth, NS; grandchildren Alexander and Jeremy; brother Delbert
(Crystal) Dixon, Port Howe, NS; brother in law Roderick
Turner, Cambridge,
ON; sister-in-law Mary-Lou Murray, Kingston, NS, as well as several
nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband
Angus; sister Eileen Turner.
Arrangements are under the care and
guidance of W Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water Street, Oxford, NS
(902-447-2167) where visitation will take place on Thursday, July 2,
2026 from 6 to 8 PM. Her funeral service will be held from
St. James Presbyterian Church, Oxford, on Friday July 3, 2026 at 11
AM. Burial will take place in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery at
a later date.
Donations in memory of Myrna may be
given to the Oxford Seniors Club (Oxford Pioneer Heritage
Club) or a charity of your choice.
