It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mildred Elizabeth Priest in Amherst, NS formerly of Oxford, NS on October 19th 2021 at the age of 92 years.

She was the daughter of the late Ross and Hilda (McDonald) Mattinson of Mount Pleasant, NS.

Mildred was a long-time member of the Women's Institutes of Nova Scotia and the Colfax Rebekah Ledge, Oxford.  Mom was one of the driving forces in the incorporation of  the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Company.  She was a busy mother who could always find time to enjoy a game of Scrabble or cards.  A few of her personal passions involved quilting, knitting, and reading a good book.

Mildred is survived by her children Gloria Lyonnais (late husband Oscar Julien), Diane (Ray) Angus, Michael (Lisa), Kenneth (Anne), and Merrilee (Dennis) Fillmore; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Lorne; brothers Norman, Miner and Lawrence.

Arrangements have been entrusted to W. Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford, NS (902-447-2167) where visiting hours will take place on Sunday from 2 until 3 pm, followed immediately at 3 pm by her funeral service, Ruth Gamble, DLM, officiating.  Proof of double vaccination and government issued ID is required for visitation, funeral and burial. Burial will take place at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Mildred's family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Gables Lodge for their care and compassion.
