MacDougall, Jessie Catherine – Age 83 of Long Point, Inverness Co., passed away with family by her side Thursday April 24th, 2020.

Born in South West Margaree, Cape Breton on June 23, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Duncan and Elizabeth Agnes Gillis.

Jessie was a faithful Roman Catholic, along with Willie Dan, they were long-time parishioners of Stella Maris Parish, Creignish and active members in the parish community, they called home. She was a member of the Stella Maris Parish Ladies Auxiliary. Whenever a helping hand was needed, she was always just a call away. Her love of her family, friends and community was deep rooted. Her natural gift to help others, led her in her profession as a nurse at Inverness Consolidated Memorial hospital, where she could lend a comforting smile and supportive voice when it was most needed. A trip down Route 19 was never complete without a stop at Jessie's for a cup of tea and fresh homemade biscuits. Mom will be lovingly remembered as a devoted mother, doting grandmother, faithful sister, caring aunt, selfless friend and compassionate nurse.

She leaves behind and will be greatly missed by her daughters, Brenda (Robert), Oxford, NS; Mary (Roy), Niagara Falls, Ont; Judy (Tony), Oakville, Ont; sons, Bill (Holly), Port Hood, NS; Ian (Sue), Mechanicsville, VA, USA; grandchildren, Bradley, Callen, Regan, Ruari, Nolan, Jeremy, Dexter, Matthew, Sarah; brother, Michael (Mary), South West Margaree, NS; sisters, Anne Marie (James), Boston, MA, USA; Peggy (George), St. Mary’s, GA, USA; Veronica, Mattapoisett, MA, USA; Rita (Johnny, deceased) Halifax, NS; sisters-in-law, Thelma, Vermont, USA; Donelda, South West Margaree, NS; Muriel, Judique, NS; many nieces and nephews, and many treasured in-laws.
