Frank Lewis
Carter, 94, of Birchwood Road, Oxford, NS, passed away
peacefully at Northumberland Hall, Amherst, on Sunday, November 3,
2019. Born in Oxford, Frank was a son of the late William
and Mabel (Rushton) Carter.
Frank started working at a young age in
the woods with his father. In 1943, Frank went for training
at Aldershot, NS, for the army reserves concentrating on mortar
shells. Then he went to work at the Oxford Foundry &
Machine Shop, followed by eleven years in the Oxford Woolen Mills, and
retiring in 1991 after 37 years with Enheat in Amherst.
Frank has always enjoyed gardening,
hockey, hunting, and was a hard working family man. He
always took great pride in maintaining his vehicles and
property.
Frank will be sadly missed by his sons
Michael (Susan) Carter, and Keith (Christine) Carter; daughters Carol
Carter, Nancy (Carl) Betts, and Brenda (Walter) Oikle; his brother,
Wilfred (Betty) Carter; eleven grandchildren, eleven great
grandchildren, one great great grandchild and plenty of nieces and
nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased
by his wife, Anna (Fowler) Carter; his sisters, Ella (Todd) Wilmot,
Carrie (Ira) Betts, Jean (Norman) McFadden, and his brother Harold
(Pauline) Carter.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of W. Allen Funeral Home, 60
Water Street, Oxford, NS (902 447-2167). Honouring Frank's
wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held
at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Oxford, on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at
1 pm.
Those wishing to do so may make
donations in Frank's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or a
charity of the donor's choice.
