Roland Wesley Payne, 91 years of age, of
Windsor, formerly of Oxford, passed away peacefully at home
in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor NS on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Born
November 5, 1925 in Oxford, he was the oldest of 4 children
of the late Wesley & Ella Mae (Tait)
Payne.
Roland served his country 5
years. He spent most of his life in Hamilton working as a Machinist
for Steel Co. and upon retirement in 1984. He was a model employee and
took great pride in his career. Rol enjoyed making model draft horse
teams with various sleighs & carts. He was green thumb and
enjoyed his gardens. After retirement he and Kathleen moved home to
Oxford and built a cottage in Bass River, Kathleen's home. Both were
homebodys and enjoyed living between both properties.
He will be sadly missed by sisters,
Eileen (Stevens), Curryville, NB, Eleanor (Blair) of Peterborough, ON;
nephews and nieces.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased
by his wife, Kathleen (Dickie) and brother, Russell.
Arrangements are under the care and
direction of W. Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford , NS
(902-447-2167). Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday,
September 15, 2017 from 1-2 p.m. with a funeral service to held at 2
p.m. Burial to take place in the Mount Pleasant
Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special
thanks to all his caregivers for all their wonderful
care.
